1. How do I enable/disable ID Protect?
The instructions below are for the enom/enomcentral/bulkregister accounts. If your domain was registered through Google, you can also un/lock the domain through the access.enom.com portal.
- Locate the domain you want to manage.
- Select Contact Information from the dropdown
- Click on "Edit your ID Protect Settings"
- Choose Protected or Unprotected then click save changes.
2. What is ID Protect Whois Privacy?
Contact information for domains registered without ID Protect can be seen by anyone doing a whois lookup. ID Protect replaces that information with Enom's information:
3. How much is ID Protect?
ID Protect costs between $3 to $8 per domain per year, depending on the reseller package.
4. What happens if I don't have ID Protect?
Without ID Protect, anyone will be able to look up the name, address, phone, and email associated with the domain. Since the information is public, the information might be collected and used for spam.
5. Can't I just enter fake information instead of purchasing ID Protect?
Per ICANN policy, information associated with a domain must be accurate. In the event of a ownership dispute, the email address listed as the registrant email will be deemed as the actual owner. If you don't have access to the fake email address, you might lose the domain.
6. How will people be able to contact me if my ID Protect is on?
We will forward emails sent to the address listed on the ID Protect (e.g. EMDIWJQ@whoisprivacyprotect.com ) to the actual Registrant's email address. The emails are forwarded to the registrant email only, not admin, tech, or the billing email. The ID Protect email is changed several times a year to prevent spam.
7. What happens to my ID Protect if I transfer away?
You will lose any unused portion of ID Protect. You will also need to repurchase ID Protect from the gaining registrar if you want to continue the service.
8. How can I renew my ID Protect?
- Navigate to step 4 of the first question.
- Select the "Add Years" button.

- You may need to click on the My Cart link in the upper right hand corner.
